Intention Candles: The Magic of Everyday Life
For those unfamiliar with the concept of candle magic, it is often immediately associated with Harry Potter or other magical myths that seemingly have little to do with reality. When I first encountered the topic of candle magic, I wasn't sure what to make of it either. How can a candle help manifest things? Yet, after some research, I discovered that candle magic is more intertwined with our daily lives than we might think. In this blog post, I invite you on a little exploration into the world of candle magic, the law of attraction and their fascinating connection to neuroscience!
Creating Atmospheres
The act of lighting a candle in the evening is part of the daily routine for many of us, primarily serving decorative purposes. But is that really the case? Almost every situation involves lighting a candle with a specific intention. Whether it's about creating a relaxed atmosphere for an evening on the couch, setting a romantic mood for intimate moments, or expressing our grief – in the moment we light the wick, we evoke a particular feeling within ourselves. Candles also play a role in firmly established annual rituals, where sometimes, we aren't exactly sure why we perform them. Blowing out candles on a birthday cake to make a wish? Lighting an additional candle on the Advent wreath weekly? Whether we realize it or not, we use candles to create atmospheres, send loving thoughts, and practice rituals, often without knowing the true underlying reasons. If you want to view it magically, we use a candle like a wand, directing our focus consciously or sometimes unconsciously in a particular direction. Let's be honest – a candle alone doesn't really create a relaxed atmosphere or romance. Ultimately, we focus on what we associate with the respective candle – it is indeed a wish we silently express when we use the lighter.
The Law of Attraction and the Filter Theory
Now, enter the Law of Attraction, one of the nine teachings of the Kybalion, gaining worldwide fame with the 2006 film "The Secret." This law states that our thoughts shape our focus and, consequently, create our reality. Everything we think about persistently or frequently, we magnetically attract into our lives. Some dismiss the Law of Attraction as esoteric nonsense more concerned with wishes than the real world. At this point, I'd like to make a brief transition into neuroscience and delve into a concept called the Filter Theory. In simple terms, the Filter Theory suggests that our brains cannot filter all information in our environment. It selects information based on topics vital and relevant to our survival, as it is incapable of absorbing all information simultaneously. Our consciousness functions like a flashlight – everything it illuminates can be consciously perceived and thus shapes our reality. When we concentrate on a specific thing, primarily that information is filtered. To illustrate the Filter Theory, consider this example: You're considering buying a new car and currently looking at a particular brand and model. Suddenly, that car appears everywhere. This isn't a coincidence but rather our brain's ability to filter information. Comparing this theory to the Law of Attraction reveals some interesting parallels.
How to use My Intention Candle for my Purposes?
When you realize that a candle is a powerful tool, you have the opportunity to consciously incorporate it into your daily life. Even if your Intention Candle sits in the living room and you pass by it several times a day, it will automatically direct your focus toward the theme you associate with the candle. You have no conscious control over it. In the preceding sections, we learned about what the Filter Theory entails. Now, if you decide to consciously light your Intention Candle every day and focus on the respective theme, your reality will reorganize itself. It's about consciously directing your focus towards the area where you currently need assistance. Yet, even if you only use your candle for decorative purposes, it will unconsciously influence you. If you look at my Intention Candles, you'll notice that the colors, gemstones, and essential oils complement each other and have been carefully chosen to align with the main theme of each candle. If an Intention Candle represents a desired theme for you and you spend 10 minutes daily engaging with it—lighting it and focusing on healing, achieving your goals, or simply seeking support—it will contribute to making the relevant information visible to you (Filter Theory) or, in other words, attract the desired energy into your life (Law of Attraction) that you currently need.
You see, magic is in the eye of the beholder. A candle can be viewed as a magical object or, in more objective terms, as an item that consciously or unconsciously influences you – you decide what meaning you attribute to it!
Summary:
- Candle magic has practical applications in your everyday life and influences your mood and thoughts.
- When lighting candles, we attach a specific intention to them, influencing our focus.
- The Law of Attraction states that our thoughts shape our reality, showing direct parallels to the Filter Theory.
- Intention Candles can be consciously used in your daily life to steer your focus toward specific themes and bring positive changes.
